The government has said the production of mango in the country has increased by 12.7 percent over the last 10 years from over 184 lakh metric tonnes in 2013-24 to over 207 lakh metric tonne in 2022-23 (First Advance Estimates).
This information was given by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in the Lok Sabha today. In a written reply, he said India is the largest producer of Mangoes, guavas and Mangosteens, accounting for nearly 44 per cent of the world production in the year 2020-21. Mr. Tomar said various steps have been taken by the government to increase the production and export of mangoes and educate the farmers in minimizing their losses.
