Government reduces prices of domestic LPG Cylinder by Rs. 200 for all consumers; To provide 75 lakh new LPG connections for free under Ujjwala scheme

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said that the government has decided to reduce the price of domestic LPG cylinders by 200 rupees for all the consumers. Briefing media in New Delhi today, the Minister said, the benefit now stands at 400 rupees per LPG cylinder for the Ujjawala beneficiaries. He said government will provide 75 lakh new free LPG connections under Ujjwala scheme.

People from all walks of life have welcomed government's initiative to reduce the price of domestic LPG cylinders by 200 rupees for all the consumers. Talking to Akashvani News, economic expert Sharad Kohli said the move comes as a big relief to the people. He termed it as a welcome step ahead of the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

Another economic expert, Harvir Singh, told Akashvani News that the move will help reduce the inflationary pressure on the common man, especially the poor. The flagship Ujjwala scheme is a major step towards reducing indoor air pollution and sustainable use of clean fuels among poor households and checking carbon emissions. Talking to Akashvani News, Professor in JNU's School of Environmental Sciences, PK Joshi highlighted the significance of the scheme in environment conservation.

We also spoke to a few beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme, who lauded the government's move.
