Government today said that over 1200 Biogas plants including 320 Compressed Biogas Plants-CBG plants across the country have been registered on the GOBARdhan portal so far. Ministry of Jal Shakti in a statement said that since its launch, the Unified Registration Portal for GOBARdhan has been witnessing laudable enthusiasm from States, Union Territories, Biogas operators and investors. 

The aim of GOBARdhan initiative is to transform Waste to Wealth through scientific management of organic and biodegradable waste while also providing resources and monetary benefits to rural households. It said that the GOBARdhan portal was launched on 1st June this year to streamline the process of registration of Biogas plants and under-construction Compressed Biogas plants across the country. The Ministry said that 52 Commissioned CBG plants registered on the portal have the capacity to process more than 6600 Tonne Per Day of organic residue to produce more than 300 Tonne Per Day of Compressed Biogas and over 2000 Tonne Per Day of Fermented Organic Manure.
