Union Minister of Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar today said the Government is focussing on creating a resilient semiconductor ecosystem in the country. Talking to media on the sidelines of SemiconIndia conclave at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, the minister said besides chip assembling, manufacturing and research and development in the field of Semiconductors are being encouraged in the country. He said India is aiming to become a semiconductor hub in coming years.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Electronics and IT announced two semiconductor design startups under the SemiconIndia future DESIGN DLI scheme at the SemiconIndia 2023 conference in Gandhinagar. A Memorandum of Agreement was also signed between the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and Lam Research India to jointly develop customized course to teach semiconductor fabrication.
