The Government has no proposal under consideration to change the retirement age of Central Government employees. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Union Minister of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh said compulsory retirement under Rule 56 has been given to 122 officers in the last three years, including the current year. The objective of the review process under Rule 56 is to bring efficiency and strengthen the administrative machinery.
