Gold prices slipped today in the futures market. The precious metal was down by 590 rupees, or 0.82 per cent, trading at 71,012 rupees per ten grams. Silver futures for July contracts were lower by 1,108 rupees, or 1.34 per cent, trading at 81,375 rupees per kilogram, when the reports last came in.

In the global markets, gold was trading 1.28 per cent lower at 2,327 dollars and 50 cents per ounce on Comex. Silver was trading 2.57 per cent down at 26 dollars and 95 cents per ounce in the intra-day session.
