Goa: Voting for two Lok Sabha seats to take place on May 7

Voting for two Lok Sabha seats in Goa will take place on the 7th of May. The State of Goa is in phase three as per the schedule of the Election Commission of India.

 

Akashvani correspondent reports that Goa has a total of 11.72 lakh registered voters of which 5.78 lakh are in North Goa and 5.93 Lacs are in South Goa. Of these 11.72 Lakh voters, six lakh plus are female while 5.7 lakh are male voters with a gender ratio of 1063 which is remarkable in the country. Goa has two parliamentary seats – the north Goa seat, currently represented by five-time MP and Union Minister of State for Tourism, Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shripad Naik of BJP and the south Goa seat represented by Francisco Sardinha of Congress.

 

The Election Commission has added more than 25,000 new voters in the age group of 18-19 years and tried to ensure that each person who was added to this list will come out and cast their vote. As per information provided by the Chief Electoral Office of Goa, all polling stations will have sheds, drinking water, sanitation facilities, ramps, wheelchairs and help desks. Also, security arrangements to conduct free and fair elections are ensured by the Election  Commission of India.
