Geo-economics continues to be the lead driver of geopolitical shifts: Army Chief General Manoj Pande

Army Chief General Manoj Pande has said that Geo-economics continues to be the lead driver of geopolitical shifts. He said, its significance has assumed centrality post-pandemic and its profound impact on the economy. Addressing the 118th Annual Session of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi today, General Pande said, ongoing Russia – Ukraine conflict has only added to the turbulence.

The Army Chief said, with its economic heft, Chinese belligerence is evident in its continuous propensity to project power outside its region and present a threat to rule-based organisation. General Pande said, the resolute and firm manner in which India stood up to its northern adversary during the events of April-May 2020 has made the world take notice of the political and military resolve of a rising India.

He said, India's stance on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict is a good example where we stood steadfast and clear towards addressing legitimate pursuits of national interests. The Chief of Army Staff said,  the dividends are evident in the pursuits as part of a bilateral and multilateral grouping, international solar alliance, global bio-fuel alliance, coalition for disaster resilient infrastructure, trade agreement and others.
