The third G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBGs) meeting concluded in Gandhinagar today.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman said during the two-day-long meeting Global representatives deliberated on several key challenges faced by the world economy today.
She said the member countries agreed upon the need to strengthen multilateral development banks, a common framework for global debt recovery, regulatory policy for crypto assets, the need for collaborative efforts on climate finance, and a common framework to counter issues like tax evasion.
She said the member countries also showed readiness on leveraging Digital Public Infrastructure and promoting local currencies for cross-border transactions. Talking about crypto assets, Ms. Sita Raman said the Indian presidency has submitted a presidency note to G 20 membership laying down the important inputs for the road map on crypto assets.
Nearly 500 delegates including Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors of the G20 member countries, invited countries, and heads of International Organisations attended the meeting.
