As part of India’s G-20 presidency, G20 Health Minister’s Meeting will begin in Gandhinagar tomorrow. On the first day of the meeting, there will be G 20 Deputy Ministers’ Meeting followed by a two-day Health Ministers Meeting. Briefing Media in Gandhinagar today, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Health Lav Agarwal said the meeting will focus on three priority areas, including health emergencies prevention, preparedness, and response with a focus on anti-microbial resistance and One Health framework; strengthening cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector and Digital Health innovations.
Apart from the main event, there will be four side events including One Earth One Health Advantage Health Care – India 2023; WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit; India MedTech Expo 2023; and ‘Sustain, Accelerate and Innovate to End TB in South-East Asia Region’ Conference. A Joint Finance – Health Ministers’ Meeting will also be held on the 19th of August as a focus event of the G20 Health Ministers’ Meeting.
Meanwhile, WHO Direct General Director General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus who have come to Gujarat as part of the G 20 Health Ministers' Meeting today visited the Health and Wellness Center at Adaraj Moti village in Gandhinagar. Dr Tedros interacted with health workers at the Health and Wellness Center and planted a Tulsi plant on the premises.
