The 4th G20 Culture Working Group (CWG) Meeting began today in Varanasi. The meeting will officially commence tomorrow morning with Cultural Working Group of the participant countries. They will discuss the agenda of the meeting for two days that is tomorrow and Friday to culminate in the Culture Ministers’ Meeting on the 26th of August. Delegates from G20 member nations, invitee countries, and various international organizations will attend the meeting.
The 4th CWG meeting in Varanasi aims to arrive at actionable outcomes while positioning culture at the heart of policymaking.
Akashvani correspondent covering the event in Varanasi reports that apart from the 20 participating countries, nine inviting countries are also taking part in the meeting, and around 170 delegates will be there in Varanasi from these countries.
Giving insights into the meeting which will officially start tomorrow, The Joint Director of the culture ministry Lily Pandey today said that the aim of the meeting is to catalyze collective actions for accelerating progress on the four priority areas articulated by the Indian Presidency- Protection and Restitution of Cultural Property, Harnessing Living Heritage for a Sustainable Future, Promotion of Cultural and Creative Industries and Creative Economy, and Leveraging Digital Technologies for the Protection and Promotion of Culture.
Meanwhile, the delegates started reaching today afternoon at Varanasi and a grand welcome was given to them showcasing the culture and traditions of the country particularly the culture of Kashi and UP.
