G20 Energy Transitions Ministers’ Meeting held on Saturday in Goa. Delegates from all countries participated in the meeting. Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy R.K. Singh while addressing the press conference said that delegates had complete agreement on 22 out of 29 paragraphs.
The Minister informed the G20 Energy Ministers have adopted the ambitious and forward-looking Outcome Document & Chair’s Summary of the meeting and G20 High-Level Voluntary Principles on Hydrogen.
He said that everybody agrees on taking steps to combat climate change. Mr. Singh added that the pace of energy transitions needs to be increased. He emphasized the need for sharing of technology, and for low-cost financing especially for developing countries so that no one is left behind. He underlined that access to energy is a major factor to be looked upon by the world community, given that 730 million people do not have energy access.
The Minister said, delegates agreed on five principles and that free and open trade will be encouraged so that zero and low-carbon hydrogen is used more and more.
