In an effort to combat the escalating threats of climate change, France and the United Arab Emirates have joined forces to expedite the transition to clean energy solutions. French Trade Minister Olivier Becht recently expressed the shared commitment of both nations to tackle climate change head-on and emphasized the importance of accelerating the shift towards sustainable energy sources.
Becht underscored the urgent need for global action to address the growing risks posed by global warming. He highlighted the increasing occurrence of natural disasters resulting from climate change as a compelling motivation to be more courageous and dedicated in driving the energy transition forward.
Becht lauded the strong partnership between France and the UAE in working together on various initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally friendly practices. Notably, the two countries are collaborating on projects in fields such as hydrogen and nuclear energy, both with peaceful purposes, to produce clean and renewable energy for the future.
The French Trade Minister expressed his unwavering trust in the UAE's capabilities and its ability to successfully host the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) at Expo City Dubai in November.
With the establishment of a trilateral cooperation initiative involving France, the UAE, and India, earlier this year, the joint efforts to combat climate change are gaining momentum. This initiative, as outlined in a recent joint statement, aims to promote cooperation projects across various domains, including energy and climate change mitigation. The collaboration will also extend to the development agencies of the three nations, fostering sustainable projects and organizing trilateral events during the Indian Presidency of the G20 and the UAE's hosting of COP28 in 2023.
