Fire service personnel rescued four persons, including an elderly woman and a man, who were trapped on a rock in the Chittoor river in Palakkad district, Kerala on Tuesday afternoon. They had entered the river to bathe and were surrounded by rising water levels.
The fire service personnel safely brought all the four to the shore one by one, using ropes and life jackets. Reports said that water was released from the Moolathara regulator due to heavy rains in the catchment areas of the Aaliyar dam in Tamil Nadu, resulting in a rapid rise in the water level of the Chittoor river.
