7 killed in landslides in Nepal

In Nepal, seven people were killed in separate incidents of landslide on Monday (19th August 2024) morning. Four people were killed when their house got buried in a landslide that occurred in Bajhang district in West Nepal. The bodies buried in the landslide were retrieved in the morning with the help of a team of locals and police. Six others buried in the landslide have been rescued alive.

Meanwhile, the Gokuleshwar-Khalanga section of the Mahakali highway has been obstructed due to landslides triggered by the overnight rain. Traffic on this section of the road has been disrupted due to landslides. Vehicles including passenger buses to and from the district have been stranded.

In Jajarkot of Karnali Province, three members of a family were killed in a landslide on Monday (19th August 2024) morning. The deceased were staying in a temporary shelter constructed for the earthquake victims.
