In Telangana, former Legislator from Kodangal, P. Narender Reddy has been detained by police this morning while he was in his morning walk at KBR Park in Hyderabad. He has been detained for his suspected role in provoking villagers against officials in connection with the land acquisition for a pharmaceutical factory. Mr Reddy has been moved to Vikarabad. Four officials were injured when villagers pelted stones at them two days before and dozens of villagers were detained yesterday. Meanwhile, the BRS and BJP alleged that the state government is trying to politicise farmers’ anger and attribute it to the opposition parties, in an effort to divert public attention from its failures.
BJP spokesperson NV Subhash in a statement said the failures of Revanth Reddy’s Government are clearly visible throughout the state where people are feeling suffocated. He further said the people are upset since the guarantees assured to them have not been implemented even after 10 months of the rule. BRS senior leader Harish Rao said the arrest of a former MLA is illegal and demanded the government to release the detained BRS leader and villagers immediately.
