Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has arrived at Kathmandu on a two-day official visit to Nepal at the invitation of Foreign Secretary of Nepal Sewa Lamsal. He was warmly received by Secretary Lamsal at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, foreign secretaries of both countries would discuss a gamut of matters related to Nepal-India relations, mutual interests and cooperation. The Foreign Secretary Misri would hold separate meetings with the distinguished persons of the Nepal government.

This is a regular visit of the Indian Foreign Secretary to Nepal. It is said the visit of the new foreign secretary is the regular exchange between the two countries. The visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level visits between the two countries and reflects India’s importance to the relations with Nepal as part of its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. Nepal and India have age-old civilisational, cultural and people-to-people relations. India has been assisting Nepal in accomplishing several mega infrastructural and connectivity-related projects. Foreign Secretary Misri is scheduled to return to India on Monday.
