For Indian Space Scientists sky is not the limit, says Dr Jitendra Singh as PSLV-XL launches India’s First Solar Mission

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh congratulated the ISRO scientists and said that for Indian Space Scientists sky is not the limit.

Speaking after witnessing the launch of PSLV C -57 carrying Aditya L1 at Sriharikota, the Minister said that the world was watching India with awe at the new ventures. He said that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who recognised the enormous potential of the Indian Space Industry and took several bold steps to boost the space sector. The Minister said that new vistas have been opened by the Government to reach out to the stars.

The 1480 kilogram Aditya L1 has seven payloads in it and will observe the photosphere, the Chromosphere and the outer layers of the sun and also about the different kinds of emission from the Sun.

The Project Director of Aditya L1 Mission, Nigar Shaji said that it was a dream come true. She said that Aditya L1 had been sent to the intended orbit and the solar panels were deployed in a flawless attempt. She said that it will take 125 days of long journey to reach L1 and said that the outcome will be magnificent for the helio physicists in the Country.

The Chairman of ISRO, Somanath said that ISRO can proudly acknowledge today's solar mission. He said that the achievement of the Chandrayaan mission was also remarkable for ISRO where the rover has moved 100 meters away from the lander on the southern part of the moon. It will be put to one or two days of sleep before the next experiment.

India's ambitious mission will be to study the Sun which is 4.5 billion year old and is a hot glow ball of hydrogen and helium gas. It is the source of energy for our solar system and India's attempt to examine and understand the various spheres inside the sun in its maiden mission is the crowning jewel in Space Research.
