Football: Kerala to face J&K in Santosh Trophy quarter-finals

In the 78th National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy, Kerala will take on Jammu and Kashmir in the third quarter-final at the Deccan Arena this afternoon. The match is about to start at 2.30 PM, IST. While in the last quarterfinal, Meghalaya will face Services in the evening. The match will begin at 7.30 PM.

 

West Bengal and Manipur have already advanced to the semi-finals. In the first quarter-final yesterday, West Bengal secured a 3-1 victory over Odisha to reach the semi-finals for the 52nd time. Odisha made a strong start, with Rakesh Oram putting them ahead. However, Bengal responded with three goals, courtesy of Narohari Shrestha, Robi Hansda, and substitute Manotos Maji.

 

In the second quarter-final, Manipur triumphed over Delhi with a late flurry of goals in extra time, making it a 5-2 victory. The regular time ended in a 2-2 draw, with LT Lowly and Shoraisham Sagar Singh finding the net for Manipur, while Jaideep Singh scored twice for Delhi. However, Khullakpam Zahir Khan and Shunjanthan Ragui with two goals filled the Delhi net in the extra time.
