Flood situation improves in Assam, over 22 thousand people currently in relief camps

In Assam, the flood situation has improved due to better weather conditions during the last 24 hours with the total affected population coming down to over 2 lakh 46 thousand. One person died in Cachar district, taking the season’s flood toll to 25.

According to the State Disaster Management Authority, different areas of Cachar, Karimganj, Morigaon, Hojai, Nagaon, Dima Hasao, Hailakandi and West Karbi Anglong districts are reeling under water.

More than 22 thousand people of 375 villages are currently at the 112 relief camps and over 5000 hectares of crops are affected. NDRF and SDRF teams have also been deployed for rescue and relief.
