In the Kashmir Valley, the annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji is going on smoothly and the rush of the devotees continues unabated with each passing hour. As per the last reports, over Five Thousand Five Hundred devotees paid their obeisance to Lord Shiva at the holy cave shrine today.
With this, Shri Amarnathji Yatra this year has crossed One Lakh Fifty Thousand mark when over 1,53,000 pilgrims have so far offered prayers at the holy cave since the commencement of the Yatra on July 1.
Earlier, a fresh batch of over 9,200 pilgrims, the largest so far, left Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in the early hours today for the twin tracks of Nunwan-Pahalgam and Baltal for performing the darshan of Lord Shiva at Shri Amarnath Ji shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. While 6,035 pilgrims left in a convoy of 194 vehicles via Pahalgam route, another convoy of 112 vehicles carrying 3,206 pilgrims left for the Baltal base camp.
The 62-day annual pilgrimage to the 3,888-metre-high cave shrine commenced from the twin tracks of Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district on July 1 this year. The Yatra is scheduled to conclude on 31st August, the auspicious day of Shravan Purnima.
Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements are already put in place on NH-44 Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and along both the Yatra routes. The Yatris thronging the region daily from various parts of the country are seen quite delighted and very eager to pay their obeisance at the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath Ji in south Kashmir Himalayas.
