In Maharashtra, filing of nomination papers is underway for the single-phase assembly polls in the state. Candidates of several parties filed their nominations yesterday. Last day for filing of nominations is 29th of October.
Elections to the 288-member State Assembly will be held on 20th of November.
Akashvani correspondent reports, Many key candidates, including Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, filed their nomination papers for the Maharashtra legislative assembly elections. Mr. Fadnavis is set to enter the fray from Nagpur South West.
The Deputy Chief Minister filed his nomination papers along with a grand rally, following a meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. Additionally, Shiv Sena leader and state minister Uday Samant filed his nomination from Ratnagiri, BJP leader Ashish Shelar from Bandra West, Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik from Ovla-Majiwada, and Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar from the Colaba assembly constituency.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has released its fourth list of five candidates. According to reports, discussions regarding seat-sharing arrangements in both the ruling Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi are in final stages.
Meanwhile, In Jharkhand, leaders from both the NDA and I.N.D.I.A alliances are trading allegations to seek public support ahead of the assembly elections.
BJP Election Co-Incharge Himanta Biswa Sarma has said there is a growing wave of support for the NDA and people are determined to oust the Hemant Soren government. He accused the Congress party of selling tickets.
On the other hand, senior Congress leader and former minister Irfan Ansari criticized the BJP, claiming that the party is neglecting its grassroots workers and awarding tickets to outsiders. He expressed confidence that the I.N.D.I.A alliance will again form the government in Jharkhand.
