Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the fight against Maoists is now reaching its final stage and asserted that it is time to launch a decisive and uncompromising campaign against left-wing extremism. Speaking to the media during his visit to Chhattisgarh, Mr. Shah assured that the country will be completely freed from the Naxal problem by March 2026.
The Home Minister also announced that the Chhattisgarh government will soon introduce a new policy for the surrender of Maoists. He affirmed the central government’s commitment to establishing law and order in areas affected by left-wing extremism and accelerating development in those regions.
Earlier today, Mr. Shah chaired a meeting of the Inter-State Coordination Committee for Maoist-affected states in Raipur. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police from seven states, including Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were also present. In addition to the Chief Secretaries and DGPs from Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra, senior officials from the central and state governments participated in the meeting.
During his three-day visit to Chhattisgarh, the Home Minister is scheduled to participate in the ‘One Tree for Every Mother’ program under the ‘People for People’ campaign. He will also inaugurate various development projects under the Smart City initiative in Naya Raipur. The Union will also inaugurate the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) office in Raipur and attend a review meeting. He will also participate in another meeting related to the expansion of cooperatives in Chhattisgarh.
