The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has registered a net addition of 18,81,000 members during September this year, representing a 9.33 per cent growth compared to the same month last year. The Labour and Employment Ministry said that the surge in members can be attributed to growing employment opportunities, increased awareness of employee benefits, and EPFO’s effective outreach initiatives.
The provisional payroll data showed that EPFO enrolled 9,47,000 new members in September of the current fiscal year. The data showed dominance of the 18 to 25 age group, constituting over 59 per cent of the total members added during the same period. The Ministry noted that a gender-wise analysis of payroll data unveiled that around 2,47,000 women were added as new members during the month, reflecting a significant increase in the number of female workers.
