In Men’s cricket, England defeated India by 26 runs in the third T20 International match at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, Gujarat, last evening. Chasing a target of 172 runs set by England, India managed to score only 145 for the loss of 9 wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.
Earlier, after being put into bat, England posted a total of 171 for 9 in 20 overs. The visitors started strong with Ben Duckett’s explosive 51 off 28 balls, while Liam Livingstone’s late fireworks inning of 43 off 24 balls helped England finish strong in the must-win match. For India, Varun Chakravarthy was the standout bowler, claiming an impressive five-wicket haul.
In response, India’s chase was anchored by Hardik Pandya, who scored 40 off 35 balls, but his lone effort was not enough to take the hosts over the line. Jamie Overton was the pick of England’s bowlers, taking three crucial wickets.
Despite this loss, the Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian side still leads the five-match series 2-1. The fourth match of the series will take place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Friday.
