Campaigning is going on in full swing in Maharashtra for the third phase of Lok Sabha polls. A total of eleven seats from Maharashtra will go to polls in this phase, scheduled to be held on 7th May. These include the prestigious seat of Baramati along with Latur, Satara, Ratnagiri and Kolhapur.
From the ruling alliance, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis held rallies in Sangli and Kolhapur while Nationalist Congress Party Ajit Pawar campaigned in Baramati.
On the opposition side, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar also addressed a rally in Kolhapur district. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a rally in Pune tomorrow.
Meanwhile, tomorrow is the last day for filing nominations for the 13 parliamentary constituencies in Maharashtra, including six seats from Mumbai, that will go to polls on 20th May, in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls.
Three sitting MPs, namely Hemant Godse from Nashik, Dr. Bharati Pawar from Dindori and Dr. Shrikant Shinde from Kalyan filed their papers today. From the opposition side, Sena (UBT) candidate Amol Kirtikar filed his papers from Mumbai North West constituency and Congress candidate Bhushan Patil filed his papers from Mumbai North constituency.
Prominent candidates including Union Minister Kapil Patil will be filing their nomination papers tomorrow.
