In Kerala, with candidates of various political parties ramping up their outreach efforts, electioneering is in full swing in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency and the two assembly constituencies of Chelakkara Reserved and Palakkad.
While voting will take place on the 13th of this month in Wayanad and Chelakkara, polling has been deferred to the 20th of this month in Palakkad.
In Wayanad, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will campaign for the LDF candidate Sathyan Mokeri today at Kalpetta, Mukkom and Edavanna. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will campaign for his party candidate Priyanka Gandhi at Nilambur tomorrow. NDA candidate Navya Haridas is concentrating her voter outreach efforts today in Nilambur.
In Chelakkara reserved assembly constituency, senior party leaders have joined the efforts canvassing votes for the respective candidates. For the LDF candidate U R Pradeep, party State Secretary M V Govindan will take part in the campaign meetings today.
BJP leader and State Prabhari Prakash Javadekar will participate in the campaign meeting in support of NDA candidate K Balakrishanan. UDF candidate Remya Haridas will concentrate her efforts in Molloorkkara region.
In Palakkad, Congress candidate Rahul Mankoottathil will begin his tour of the constituency this afternoon. KPCC President K Sudhakaran will participate in the election campaign in the constituency today. LDF candidate Dr Sarin will focus on Kalpaththy, Valiyapadam, Mathoor areas. Minister of State George Kurian, Metroman E Sreedharan will join the efforts to woo the electorate for the NDA candidate C Krishnakumar.
Yesterday, the Expenditure Observer appointed by the Election Commission, Seetharam Meena reviewed the functioning of various squads deployed to curb black money in the elections.
Police last night raided a hotel where Congress leaders were staying in Palakkad, following a tip-off that they have hoarded huge sums with them. The raid did not yield any money.
