Eight killed in Zambia mine collapse

In Zambia, at least eight miners were killed after a gravel mine collapsed in the Chongwe district of Lusaka province.

The police spokesperson said the accident occurred yesterday after the workers finished loading the gravel, burying the truck and the victims.

The driver who was rescued after being partially buried informed that at least nine persons were at the scene.

The spokesperson added that the rescue team has managed to retrieve eight bodies while the search for the other victims is still underway.

In November last year, 11 people lost their lives in a landslide at an open-pit copper mine in the African nation.
