Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today emphasised that research and innovation, in a sense, are key to the attainment of the goal of a developed nation. Addressing the 4th Convocation Ceremony of the National Institute of Technology in New Delhi today, Mr Dhankhar highlighted how high the country ranks in the field of research and innovation, which will define its prowess to the global community. He further urged educational institutions to harness their potential as crucibles of innovation and research. Mr Dhankhar also called upon corporate entities to support this mission through substantial contributions. He stressed that associations of trade, industry, business, and commerce must come forward to fuel research and spur innovation through liberal financial contributions.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar also emphasised that investment in education is the most impactful way to serve society as it enriches human resources and secures both our present and future. He said that education, at its core, is a service to society. He underlined that education should never be viewed as commerce, noting that it is an obligation, a duty, a divine calling to contribute back to society.
Highlighting that Alumni are, in many ways, the lifeline of an institution, Mr Dhankar strongly encouraged the establishment of an alumni fund with regular annual contributions. He added that some of the world’s leading institutions thrive on the enduring support and enthusiasm of their alumni.
The Vice President also emphasised that the present generation has scripted new milestones in industry without any family background, with education as their only prowess. On the occasion, the Vice President also awarded the meritorious students of the Institute.
