The annual sports week of the Election Commission of India has started in New Delhi’s Siri Fort Sports Complex on Monday. The sports week will continue till the 7th of December. A total of six sports have been included this year, including games like badminton, chess, cricket, carrom, and table tennis. For the first time, football has been included in the event. The 6-day-long event primarily aims to reduce the mental pressure and workload of the employees and improve teamwork through sports. Nearly 320 people will participate in the event. The participation of women players has increased this year compared to the last edition, emphasizing women’s empowerment.
Talking to the media, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has said that sport is something that develops persona and teaches life lessons like teamwork.
