The full Election Commission of India (ECI) has begun reviewing poll preparedness in Telangana. The high-level team, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, held a crucial meeting with enforcement agencies in Hyderabad last evening. Over 20 agencies including police and revenue departments gave presentations before the Commission about the poll preparations. The Commission also held meetings with about 10 national and state political parties last evening. The commission has taken the opinion and suggestions of the parties regarding the conduct of the elections. The delegations of political parties later informed the media that they raised their concerns relating to clean voters’ lists, election expenditure among others.
The ECI will assess poll preparedness at the grassroots level and hold a meeting later this morning with District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police as well as Commissioners of Police from all 33 districts in Telangana. The ECI team will also interact with state icons, persons with disabilities and young voters to promote awareness and participation in the democratic voting process. The ECI team will hold a crucial meeting with Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari and Director-General of Police Anjani Kumar to discuss poll preparedness tomorrow.
