External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived in the Maldives this evening for a three-day visit. He was received by his Maldivian counterpart, Moosa Zameer, at the airport. In a social media post, Dr. Jaishankar said that the Maldives occupies an important place in India’s vision of ‘Neighbourhood First’ and ‘SAGAR’. Dr. S. Jaishankar said he is looking forward to fruitful engagements with the Maldivian leadership. Our correspondent reports that the Maldives is India’s key maritime neighbour. The visit aims to strengthen the close partnership between the two countries and explore avenues to further enhance the bilateral relationship.
