EAM Dr. S Jaishankar to co-chair 10th India-Tanzania Joint Commission Meeting with his Tanzanian counterpart at Daar es Salaam

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has stressed the importance of Mission IT (India and Tanzania) while interacting with the members of the Indian diaspora at  Dar es Salaam' Sharing the purpose of his visit, the Minister said that IT (India-Tanzania) mission addresses some of the most important priorities of this country today.

Apart from the 'Mission IT',  Mr. Jaishankar also highlighted the strong India-Africa connection, especially the deep links that New Delhi shares with East Africa.  He also noted that at the heart of India-Tanzania ties is the solidarity of spirit and mutuality of interests. The Minister added that the Indian community is an expression, contributor and force of this relationship between the two countries. Explaining how the India-Tanzania friendship is making a difference in the lives of the average Tanzanian, Mr  Jaishnakar said India's six water projects in African country will benefit 8 million people in the country.  
 
The  Minister said, with 750 slots annually, Tanzania is India’s largest African partner in training and capacity building, Ministry of External Affairs said  Mr. Jaishankar will co-chair the 10th India-Tanzania Joint Commission Meeting with his counterpart and call on the country’s top leadership, including several Cabinet rank Ministers in Dar es Salaam'. He met with the members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for India. The Minister will later inaugurate an India-Tanzania business meeting.  Mr. Jaishankar will inaugurate the bust of Swami Vivekananda in Dar-es-Salaam.  

Jaishankar is on a four-day official visit to Tanzania, which will culminate tomorrow. During the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tanzania in July 2016, India and Tanzania signed an agreement for a LOC of   92 million USD for the rehabilitation and improvement of the water supply system in Zanzibar.
