Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Muralidhar Mohol, underscored the significant strides made by India’s aviation sector during the last 10 years, with air transport services now ranking third globally. His remarks came during an event marking the opening of the newly constructed terminal at Pune’s Lohgaon Airport for passenger services today. Mr. Mohol also highlighted that in the last decade, 469 new air routes have been established in India, alongside the construction of new terminals at key airports such as Delhi, Bangalore, and Ayodhya. He said, 20 to 25 new airports will be constructed across the country soon. The new terminal at Pune airport is expected to accommodate approximately 1 crore passengers annually. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 10, the terminal today commenced its passenger services after completing all pending works.
