Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C.R. Patil, said today that India’s economy depends on water resources and we must save and rejuvenate our water bodies. Inaugurating a two-day workshop on Springshed Management in Guwahati, the Union Minister emphasized the need to create awareness to save our water sources, or our future will be bleak. He said that the dream of “Viksit Bharat” by 2047 cannot be achieved without sustainable water resources. Later, the Union Minister chaired the 13th High-Powered Review Board meeting of the Brahmaputra Board, focusing on advancing policies and strategies crucial to flood control and river management in the Brahmaputra and Barak Valleys. The meeting covered key developments in the Brahmaputra Board’s strategic transformation, including recruitment and deputation policies, remote work guidelines, and the review of basin and sub-basin master plans. It also focused on the use of funds under the EFC-approved River Basin Management scheme and the formulation of project strategies for future initiatives.
