Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal has said that the dream of every family of having a pucca roof over their heads will be fulfilled under Pradhan Mantri Awas yojana 2.0.
Inaugurating the national workshop on PM Awas Yojna- Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) in New Delhi, Mr. Lal said that the impact of the scheme on the economy and allied sectors has created more than 3 crore estimated employment opportunities. He emphasized on effective implementation of PMAY-U 2.0 and responsive governance to ensure benefits reach the last mile, impacting every eligible family positively.
Mr. Lal also lauded the efforts of officials from various States and Union Territories and said that the workshop will take them through the implementation model of the scheme that will hopefully make a difference in the society.
Speaking on Affordable Rental Housing, the minister said, it has been introduced as a separate vertical for the first time in a housing scheme to provide adequate affordable rental accommodation to working women and industrial workers.
PMAY-U 2.0 is currently in the implementation phase with more than 25 States and Union Territories having signed the Memorandum of Agreement with the Ministry of housing and urban affairs.
