Two candidates from Jharkhand, Dr. Pradeep Verma from BJP and Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed from Grand Alliance of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Congress and RJD were elected unopposed today to Rajya Sabha without contesting any elections. Secretary of Jharkhand Assembly Syed Javed Haider today formally announced the results of the candidates in the afternoon. Earlier on the 11th of March, Dr Pradeep Verma and Dr Sarfaraz Ahmed had filed their nominations for the Upper House. Today was the last date of withdrawal of nominations. Since there were two candidates from Jharkhand for the Rajya Sabha elections, both were elected unopposed.
