Domestic markets end with gains

Benchmark domestic equity indices today ended with gains of over half percent, driven by a rally in the Banking, Telecommunication and Financial Services sectors. The 30-share index at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, rose 454 points, almost 0.6 percent, to close at 77,073. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange Nifty-50 advanced 141 points, or 0.61 percent, to settle at 23,345. The broader market indices at BSE also ended in positive territory. The Mid-Cap index gained over 0.6 percent and the Small-Cap index increased over 0.8 percent. In the Sensex index, 17 out of 30 companies logged gains. Among the top gainers, Kotak Bank soared over 9 percent, Bajaj Finance added over three and a half percent, and Bajaj Financial Services advanced over three percent. Meanwhile, in the top laggards, Zomato plunged over three percent, Adani Ports lost 1.23 percent, and TCS dropped over one percent. In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 17 out of 20 sectors ended in positive territory. Among top gainers, Telecommunication advanced over 2.1 percent, Bankex gained over two percent, and Power added almost 1.4 percent. Conversely, in the top laggards, Auto shed half percent, Consumer Discretionary dropped 0.26 percent, and FMCG was marginally down by 0.08 percent.
