Domestic markets end flat

The benchmark domestic equity indices today ended on a flat note amid mixed global cues. The 30-share index at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, added 10 points to close at 74,612. Conversely, the National Stock Exchange Nifty-50 fell marginally by two points to settle at 22,545. The broader market indices at the BSE ended in negative territory. The Mid-Cap index slipped over 0.9 percent, and the Small-Cap index shed over two percent. In the Sensex index, 17 out of 30 companies logged losses. Among the top laggards, UltraTech Cement shed almost five percent, Tata Motors slipped over two percent, and Mahindra and Mahindra dropped over 1.9 percent. Conversely, among the top gainers, Bajaj Financial Services rose almost 2.6 percent, Bajaj Finance increased almost 2.4 percent, and SunPharma added over 1.6 percent. In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 18 out of 21 sectors ended down. Among the top laggards, Industrials lost over 2.4 percent, Realty slipped over two percent, and Power fell 1.8 percent. In the top gainers, Metal advanced 0.7 percent, Financial Services rose over 0.3 percent, and Telecommunication added 0.11 percent. Meanwhile, overall market breadth at the BSE was negative as shares of 3,030 companies declined, 943 advanced, and 99 remained unchanged. At the National Stock Exchange, 17 companies hit their 52-week high, while 397 hit their 52-week low.
