In Telangana, a dog squad has joined the rescue operation today inside the partially collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) in Nagarkurnool district, in which eight persons remain trapped since the 22nd of last month. The local authorities informed that the team, including dogs and handlers, went inside the tunnel this morning to locate the presence of humans. The dogs of the Belgian Malinois breed arrived by air from Kerala. The dogs are specially trained to locate missing humans and human bodies.
They further informed that over a hundred rescue personnel, including NDRF teams, also went inside the tunnel along with the equipment required for digging.
Eight persons including two engineers and six workers have been trapped in the SLBC Tunnel and experts from the NDRF, Indian Army, Navy and other agencies are making relentless efforts to pull them out to safety.
