Directorate General of Quality Assurance celebrating 67th DGQA day ;Lt Gen R S Reen, DG extends greeting to all officers and staffs

The Directorate General of Quality Assurance is celebrating 67th DGQA day today. The organisation functions under department of Defence Production , Ministry of Defence. It provides Quality Assurance cover for the entire range of Arms, Ammunitions, Equipments and Stores supplied to the Armed Forces. 

Apart from quality assurance activities, the organisation is responsible for import substitution and associates with Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in the development projects. It also ensures Documentation, Codification and Standardisation Action for minimizing the variety of components and equipment.

Though, the origin of the DGQA dates back to 1869, when the first Inspectorate was set up at Ammunition Factory, Kirkee, the organisation came into its present incarnation in 1957 when Maj Gen Pratap Narain was appointed as the first Director General on 27 September 1957.
 
On the occasion of the DGQA Day, Lt Gen R S Reen, Director General has extended greetings and best wishes to all officers, staff, retired personnel & families of Directorate General of Quality Assurance.

In an exclusive conversation with All India Radio, the DG said the organisation has taken a series of steps in sync with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of Aatmnirbharta in defence.
