A hybrid roadshow in Mumbai was organised by the Directorate General of Shipping and the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) yesterday as a precursor to Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) which is going to be held in New Delhi from 17th – 19th October 2023.
Addressing the event virtually, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shripad Yesso Naik said that the Summit will serve as a global platform for showcasing best practices and enhancing partnerships. He further said that the Summit will focus on the various aspects of the maritime sector and facilitate the interaction among the global maritime industry, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
Highlighting the relevance of the event Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shyam Jagannathan said that DG, Shipping and SCI aspire to move the maritime sector towards sustainable growth backed by innovation and cutting-edge technology through cooperative conversations and strategic alliances. He added events like GMIS demonstrate not just India's economic might but also showcase country’s commitment to advancing commerce, connectivity, and the cohesion of the marine industry. CMD of SCI Capt. B. K. Tyagi said, it is imperative that we continue to support and strengthen our maritime sector, recognising its strategic importance and its potential to shape the Maritime industry's future in India and beyond.
Global Maritime India Summit 2023 is a mega event of the Maritime sector that aims to bring together pivotal figures from the industry to explore opportunities, understand challenges, and stimulate investment within India's Maritime sector. More than 100 countries and several delegates from them are expected to participate in the Summit with exhibitors and investors from various domains of the maritime sector. Building upon the legacy of its preceding editions of 2016 and 2021, this third edition of Summit aims to unveil broader prospects for domestic and international maritime stakeholders and investors.
