Indian Space Research Organisation-ISRO Chairman S Somnath has informed that all is going well for the Gaganyaan programme. Speaking to Akashvani news in Bengaluru, he said that it is a difficult journey full of challenges, demanding scrutiny of the human space mission by an independent committee. Gaganyaan mission envisages the demonstration of human spaceflight capability by launching a crew of three members to an orbit of 400 kms for a three-day mission and bringing them back safely to Earth. The ISRO Chairman told Akashvani news that two unmanned missions will precede the Gaganyaan manned mission. The first such unmanned mission is planned in December.

ISRO Chairman S Somnath has informed that the design of the Indian Space Station is ready. This needs to be scaled up. The Space station is divided into five units. The plan is to launch the first two units with the existing Launch Vehicle Mark 3. The remaining three units are bigger and will need new-generation launch vehicles. ISRO is planning to have this Space Station ready by 2028.
