The depression over West Central and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal moved west northwestwards with a speed of 14kmph during the past six hours and crossed North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Nellore, close to North of Chennai today. It has weakened into a well marked low pressure area and lay over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh early this morning. It is likely to continue to move west northwestwards and weaken further into a low pressure area during the next 12 hours.

After a two day break, Chennai and districts of North Tamil Nadu limped back to normalcy today with schools and colleges reopened.
