16 additional commodities are included under the price monitoring by the Department of Consumer Affairs from today. Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi stated this while launching the Price Monitoring System-PMS mobile app version 4.0 today. Daily prices of twenty-two commodities were already being monitored by the department; with today’s addition, the total monitored commodities will be 38.

The increase in coverage of food items under daily price monitoring will play a crucial role in policy interventions to stabilise price volatility in food items and to control overall inflation. This initiative further reflects the government’s commitment to addressing the issues of availability and affordability of essential commodities to consumers.
