In Puducherry, dengue claimed two lives this week. The Health department has geared up coordinated vector control measures along with treatment facilities. The Director of Health and Family Welfare, Puducherry released data for the Union Territory about dengue incidences. According to the data, 1175 dengue cases have been registered in the UT as of September 13 this year compared to 792 cases in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Chief Minister N.Rangasamy held a meeting with Health Officials to review the situation. He instructed the officials to keep stock of medicines in all Hospitals and door to door monitoring should be carried out. Lt Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has visited the special ward created for Dengue treatment in the Government Hospital and interacted with the two patients admitted there. Dr.Sriramulu, Director of Health appealed to the public to cooperate in reducing the breeding of mosquitoes at source and approach hospitals immediately after experiencing the symptoms of any fever.
