Delhi Polls: 60.42% turnout, fate of 699 candidates to be decided on Sat

After peaceful polling of the Delhi Assembly election held yesterday, EVMs have been kept in the strong rooms. These strong rooms are under the constant vigil of the Election Commission and police officials. The Poll body in a statement said that 19 counting centres have been set up in 11 districts of Delhi for counting of votes. The fates of 699 candidates on the 70 seats will be decided from the counting of votes, which will be done on Saturday. The total turnout for the Delhi assembly election was recorded at 60.42 per cent. The highest turnout of 66.25 per cent was recorded in the North East Delhi district, while South East Delhi saw the lowest at 56.31 per cent. In the Shahdara district, the voter turnout was 63.94 per cent. North Delhi recorded a turnout of 59.55 per cent, and North West Delhi had a turnout of 60.70 per cent. Prominent leaders whose fate was sealed in the EVMs include Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, Manish Sisodia of the Aam Aadmi Party, and Parvesh Verma, Vijender Gupta, Arvinder Singh Lovely, and Ramesh Bidhuri of BJP. From the Congress side, Devendra Yadav, Sandeep Dixit, and Alka Lamba were the prominent faces in this election.
