Delhi Police has made elaborate security arrangements in the national capital in view of 77th Independence Day. Special arrangements have been made in and around Red Fort, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation. Talking to AIR News, Delhi Police PRO, Suman Nalwa said that anti-drone technology and Artificial Intelligence based systems have been put in place to ensure security in the areas. She also said all the borders of Delhi will be closed for heavy vehicles from midnight today.
For the convenience of public and security reasons, certain traffic restrictions have been imposed around the Red Fort tomorrow. As many as eight roads will be closed for general traffic from 4 AM to 10 AM. These include Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail, Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail, SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk, Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort and Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT. The traffic movement will remain slow near New Delhi Railway Station, Ajmeri Gate and Kamla Market roundabout and nearby areas.
Delhi Metro train services on all lines will start from 5 AM from all terminal stations to facilitate the passengers to attend the Independence Day ceremony. The trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all the lines till 6 AM tomorrow. After 6 AM, Metro trains will run as per the normal timetable throughout the day. Parking facilities will not be available at the Delhi Metro stations till 2 PM tomorrow.
