Delhi Government has announced to close all government and private schools in the areas where water logging issues are arising in the National Capital. The State government has also closed the Okhla and Chandrawal Wazirabad water treatment plants in New Delhi. The decisions were taken in stock of the rising water level of Yamuna River.
Delhi Traffic Police has also diverted and issued advisory for some major routes as precautionary steps. The Traffic Police in its advisory said that traffic movement on GT karnal road is closed and diverted to the other side between GT Karnal Road to ISBT from Sonepat side. Traffic movement on the outer ring road is allowed only towards GT Karnal Road between Rohini to ISBT. At Mukarba Chowk, traffic is diverted to Peeragarhi Chowk and Narela side. Traffic is also diverted to Peeragarhi and Narela side in Bhalswa area.
The advisory added that GT Karnal Road to Azadpur under Mukarba Chowk Flyover, Traffic is diverted towards Rohini. At Singhu Border, Traffic is being diverted to Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway. Passenger buses from Haryana and Punjab are being terminated at the Singhu border. The Traffic Police advised commuters to avoid these mentioned roads and plan their journey accordingly.
Meanwhile, the water level in the Yamuna river in Delhi has reached a record high to 208.57 metres breaching the 1978 record of 207.49 metres.
The Delhi Police along with the NDRF are evacuating the people trapped amidst water-logging in different areas.
