Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal filed petition in SC against Delhi HC order

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order of upholding his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in excise policy scam. Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned the matter before the Chief Justice of India for urgent listing today. In response, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said a date will be announced for the hearing. The Supreme Court had previously granted bail to Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to the scam filed by Enforcement Directorate.

Earlier on 5th of August, the Delhi High Court had upheld the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal as legal. The Court said, there was no malice in the acts of his arrest by the CBI. On 26th June, Kejriwal was arrested by CBI, while he was already in judicial custody in connection with a money laundering case probed by the Enforcement Directorate.
